The Fell Championship
Hi everyone, the Fell Championship begins in February and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, Dan Hughes, as your new fell captain. You probably know me better as one half of ‘Team Hughes’ (Nic and Dan Hughes), and whilst I’m the main contact for the role, we’ll be working together to make sure any questions or queries you have over the Fell Championship can be answered. Lynn Melvin was previously doing the role, and a did great job, particularly in supplying post-race cake (thanks!).
Why give it a go?
It’s the perfect opportunity to have a crack at some off-road running, often in a scenic environment (which generally means great race photos), involving a nice amount of walking (normally up a hill though), normally costing you only a few pounds and generally ending with cake.

Full details are on the club website with some of the races (generally the summer ones) part of an Interclub competition (like the Interclub road races). These generally tend to be a bit more local and a little easier as often kit is not required as the weather is better.
Keep an eye out for car shares, and possibly some recce walks in relation to the above races, and we hope to see you soon out on the fells! Any questions over what you need, or reassurances that you’ll be fine, please get in touch.
