The first Championship race of the year was the Central Lancs Half Marathon. Getting the year off to a great start many of our runners posted good times and PB’s. Simon Croft won the race by a considerable distance in a time of 1.12.59. Kristian Lowe finished 15th in 1.25.31. Michael Oddie finished as first V45 in 1.29.33 with Gary Corcoran 2nd V45 in 1.30.45. Scott Jackson came in next in 1.32.42 followed by Matt Wilson 1.35.25(PB). Sam Edwards started her ‘12 halfs in 12 months’ challenge with a brilliant PB of 1.38.01.

A small group ran the Lancaster 5k. Emily Ingham 25.09, Laura Walker 27.51, Lauren Hatton 31.58, Cath Furesz 35.49, Susan Beardsworth 36.00.
The Wirral Trail Half provided a great event. Jo Roberts 2.14.54, Amanda Berry 2.22.44, Joydip Majumder 2.33.05, Davina Bowling 2.51.19, Mary Conway 2.51.21.
In the Lancs Cross Country Championships, only Barry Wheeler was running. He finished in 43:20 and can now claim to be the 94th best cross country runner in Lancashire this year.
Further afield, The Nice Prom Classic 10k had 9000 entrants with lovely warm conditions. Our runners were Pete O’Grady 49.38, Jillian Coates 57.32, Marion O’Grady 61.47.
The first runner home in the Preston parkrun was Matt Holmes in 17.36. PB’s were posted by Andrew Doublett 20.50, Paula Stell 26.12, Caroline Cocker 30.26.
At Cuerden Valley parkrun, Red Rose led the field with Karl Hodgson 19.06 and Dan Hughes 19.17. Joel Stanier 26.46 and Helen Murphy 33.20, both ran PB’s.
