The Mid Lancs cross country season continued this weekend with the event being held in Blackpool. With the early stages of Storm Ciara making her presence felt Red Rose put out a hardy set of runners. In the Under 11’s race Archie Finch had a great run finishing the 2k course in 8.57 only one minute behind the winner and Oliver Bruce who put in a determined race finishing in 11.55.
In the women’s race, Sam Edwards led the team home in 27.46 followed by Anneke Crosby 30.10 and Jay Rayton in 30.17. Our other successful finishers were Alison Parkinson 34.01, Margaret Worbey 34.12, Debbie Porter 35.00, Melanie Lowe 35.27, Angela Dallinger 36.25, Alison Mercer 37.51, Sally Cape 42.12.
In the Men’s section, Dan Hughes was well ahead of the rest in 39.21 followed by a close pack of half a dozen runners. Steve Woodruffe 42.57, Michael Hall 43.02, Gary Corcoran 43.11, Barry Wheeler 43.39, Simon Shaw 43.50, Frank Nightingale 44.04, Stuart Smith 44.19, Manolo Mendoza 45.43, John Naylor 46.55, Stuart Cann 47.26, Phil butler 47.57, Fred Lynch 49.11, Imtiaz Patel 50.17,Phil Dean 50.31, Simon Worbey 51.17, Dave Stewart 52.08, Richard Field 55.59, Anthony Pope 60.08.
Gina Biggs and Ben Smithers were attempting to run 4 marathons in 4 days at the Enigma Quadzilla 4 in 4 event held in Milton Keynes. The first went well. Gina ran the second run 5 minutes faster, (5.33.06) than the previous day and felt better. Day Three saw a time of 5.45.06.The final run was accompanied by Storm Ciara and she only went and ran 5.13.10!
Ben ran with amazing consistency. Day One 4.31, Day Two 4.29, Day Three 4.24, Day Four, in the presence of Storm Ciara, 4.40.
At the Preston Parkrun Matt Holmes took first place in 17.23 (PB) and Anees Shaikh(26.55) and Sue Livesey(32.52) both ran PB’s. At Cuerden Valley Karl Hodgson came in first in 18.34 and PB’s were achieved by Helen Murphy 32.22 and Sarah Clucas 32.33.
