Lands End to John O’Groats Virtual Relay
The traditional Lands End to John O’Groats route is 874 miles. Can Red Rose Members make it (virtually) from Lands End to John O’Groats in a week of relay legs? Perhaps they can even make it there and back to Lancashire as well!
This event will be run over 7 days – the week commencing 10th August, but will emulate 4 running activities a Red Rose Road Runner might participate in during a typical ‘non-COVID19’ week. Entrants can run 1,2,3 or all 4 of these, at any point and in any order during the week. These stages are:
Thursday Night Training Run
In usual Thursday night style, there will be the option to run a short, medium, or long distance. These are 4.2 miles, 5.7 miles or 8.5 miles. There is also the slightly tongue-in-cheek option of ‘I got lost on a long run’ 10 miles. The entrant will run a route of their own choosing and submit their run to the organiser once completed.
Friday Daytime Training Run
Friday daytime runs are usually around 5 miles. On this stage, there is the option to run a 5 mile route. The entrant will run a route of their own choosing and submit their run to the organiser once completed.
Saturday 5K / parkrun
A lot of members run parkruns during a normal week, so there would be a stage to include a 5K. You could run your favourite parkrun course or any other 5K route. This can be run at any time of the week – please don’t all run at 9AM on Saturday at you local parkrun course! The entrant will run a route of their own choosing and submit their run to the organiser once completed. This stage is suitable for older junior members to participate in.
Sunday 10K
The Red Rose Worden 10K was cancelled this year due to COVID19 restrictions. In its place, a virtual 10K was held. Building on the success of that, the final day will involve a 10K run. Entrants could either run the actual Worden 10K route, or any other route of their choosing. Please don’t all run the Worden route at the same time on the Sunday morning. This will be charged at £5, to include a medal, package and posting. This stage will be open to the wider running community. You will get the option to choose from one of the three recent ‘Leyland Trucks’ series of medals. You can enter this more than once if you want several medals, but will need to pay multiple times and run the 10k multiple times in the week.
Below are the sign-up forms. The first three days are on the first form. These days are only open to Red Rose Road Runners Members. The second form is for the fourth day and is open to all.

The is the form for the Virtual 10K and medal. You can chose one of the above medals. Maybe you want to complete your set. If you want two or three medals, this is possible. However you will need to submit the form either two or three times accordingly (and complete the 10K the correct number of times!).
