London Marathon Entries

Each year the club is currently allocated two entries to the London Marathon.

First consideration will be given to club members who have not done the London Marathon within the last five years, who have entered through the normal procedure that year and have been rejected.

Second consideration will be given to club members who have entered through the normal procedure that year and have been rejected.

In both of the above criteria, rejection notices must be produced with the entry request.

Thirdly, consideration will be given to club members who do not fall into the two above categories and who express a wish to receive a club entry.

Furthermore, to qualify under the above regulations, an applicant must have served twelve months of membership with the Club by the 31st of March in the calendar year before the London Marathon. They must also have completed nine races from any of the Red Rose Club events before the draw takes place to be considered. Events hosted by Red Rose will not count towards the total, however marshalling/volunteering at a Red Rose Road Runners hosted event can count as one of the 9 ‘races’ (e.g. complete 8 calendar races, plus marshal at the Red Rose Road Runners Interclub, or Worden 10K). If a member completes the same event multiple times, it will only count as one race.

If all the above criteria are met, and more people are eligible than available places, the chosen runners will be randomly selected.

Any other matters which arise under the above will be dealt with at the absolute discretion of the Committee.

Amended August 2023 (to include the marshalling/volunteering option).
